The Rainbow Kiss

Have you heard of the rainbow Kiss before, or you are one of us who recently heard about it? Rainbow kiss is one such weird sex practices that have gained some level of recognition and participation.

If you have not heard about it, I must warn you that it sounds really gross to the hearing. And if you already know about it, I guess you are here to find out other things about the rainbow kiss, things like, how safe is rainbow kissing, how is it done, how much pleasure does it give, what is special about it? I hope you are going to find answers to all your questions relating to rainbow kissing after reading through.

First, let’s see what a rainbow kiss is?

What Is A Rainbow Kiss?

Please, don’t let the terminology confuse you. There are no actual rainbow colours involved, neither do they have to create any colourful scene or anything that has to do with multi-colours. However, some sex enthusiasts have claimed that the mixture of the sperm and the menstrual blood in the mouth could create a rainbow colour, but that has not been proven by observation.

Think of it this way, that rainbow kiss is a form of some colour mix up during the process of kissing. But, I already said that it’s grosser than I just explained.

A rainbow kiss happens when a guy goes down on a woman during her period with his head into the vaginal opening, while the woman gives him a blow job at the same time, possibly in the “69” position. Then, when the man has ejaculated into the woman’s mouth, both of them kisses, mixing the menstrual blood in the man’s mouth with semen in the woman’s mouth. Even though the colour of the moisture cannot be appreciated, the term rainbow kiss has been used for this type of kissing.

How Did Rainbow Kissing Begin and Who Invented It?

The term “rainbow Kiss” was first mentioned by Simon Farquhar, a Scottish script-writer in the play titled “Rainbow Kiss”. The written play was later staged in a London theatre in 2006.

However, this term gained more popularity after it became a viral trend on TikTok with over 3 million views.

In these media, both the stage act and TikTok, the sexual meaning of the term was not explicitly defined or illustrated but we know what rainbow Kiss means anyway.

I know there are other questions, you may want answers to. But let’s find out if a rainbow kiss is a safe sex practice.

Is Rainbow Kissing Medically Safe?

Rainbow Kiss is not only gross to think of, it is also considered very unsafe to health. Blood and other body fluids like semen, vaginal discharge, urine, sputum, etc, are considered high-risk sources of transmission of many diseases, especially sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

I don’t know who would try such a disgusting sexual practice of mixing semen and menstrual blood in the mouth during oral sex and then swallowing it. It’s pretty gross and very awful to think of in the first place.

I don’t know anyone who has tried rainbow kissing, but I don’t know what kind of pleasure they derive from the act to warrant their participation in it, but what is more important here is that it is considered hygienic or medically safe.

Why Do People Engage In Rainbow Kissing?

There have to be some attempted explanations to why people who engage in rainbow kissing, an act that you would view as extremely dirty. You don’t know to what extent people can go to enjoy sex, do you?

A sexual expert, Danyell Fima, a co-founder of Velvet Co, has had her explanations to why rainbow kissing would be such an enjoying act for both couples when the woman is on her period. This is how she puts it;

“A rainbow kiss is a great way for everyone to enjoy the few minutes of cathartic bliss right after you both orgasm. Consider that the goal.”

Her explanation would suffice a lot. It sounds reasonable to think that that is probably the reason why people who engaged in the act of rainbow kissing do so, or maybe rainbow kissing is the partners’ way of enjoying sex during the woman’s period.

Sadie Allison, PhD and TickleKitty.com founder, explains that giving a rainbow kiss is one of the ways people can enjoy period sex.

Sadie Allison, PhD, adds that;

“Like the hundreds of other fetishes out there, this ‘unique’ activity is perfectly okay to do so long as it’s agreed upon by two consenting adults.”

She also encourages couples performing the rainbow kiss to try using flavoured lube to “add a new dimension to their sensory play.”

Wendasha Jenkins Hall, PhD, also points out that;

“orgasms can actually help relieve menstrual cramps, so rainbow kisses may not be a bad idea for those who are adventurous and kinky.”

Enough of all the explanations for now. Let’s look at some medical consequences of the act of rainbow kissing. Maybe someone who has engaged in rainbow kissing would enlighten us further in the comments below, as to how pleasurable the act of rainbow kissing can be, because I have not tried it out myself.

[Note: Derogatory words will not be condoned in the comments section].

Which Diseases Can Be Transmitted Via Rainbow Kissing?

Engaging in the act of rainbow kissing carries some risks of contracting and transmitting some medical conditions. I will make you better understand why the risk of disease transmission is heightened and the few exceptions that can be observed.

But just for reference, one Twitter doctor with the handle @DrOlufunmilayo has listed a few of the diseases that can be transmitted by rainbow kissing. Here is the embedded tweet;

Do you see the diseases listed above? Viral hepatitis is as very contagious diseases that can even be transmitted via minimal contact with blood and other body fluids of an infected person. You can now see how much the risks of contracting the infection becomes during rainbow kissing.

Some diseases like HIV do not survive in the stomach acidic juice, so their transmission will be enhanced if there is an injury in the mouth either during the process of rainbow kissing or before it.

However, the Herpes viruses very easily affect the mouth and vagina because they only need to attach to the surface epithelium of the mouth and vagina to enter the cells and cause disease.

In light of these, Wendasha Jenkins Hall, PhD, says it’s important to take precautions when performing any sex act with a new partner. She further explains that,

“There is nothing wrong with giving or receiving oral sex when you or your partner is menstruating as long as both are comfortable doing so and have taken the necessary precautions, such as getting tested for HIV and other STDs. It is possible to perform cunnilingus and not come into contact with any blood if you focus on clitoral stimulation.”

At this point, I think you have now seen the two sides of the act of rainbow kissing. Want to try it out with your partner? Just don’t forget to weigh the risks first, and by the way, are there no better ways to achieve sexual pleasure aside rainbow kissing? That’s if rainbow kissing gives pleasure in the first place. Remember, I don’t yet know either.

Are There Other Related Sex Practices To Rainbow Kiss?

The Urban Dictionary describes rainbow Kiss as a hetero-normative sex act. That is, it is different from the normally accepted sex acts. Using this categorization, we can have a host of other sex practices in the same class as a rainbow kiss.

But streamlining down a little bit further, since menstrual blood is being mixed with semen in the typical rainbow kiss, you could have a variant of rainbow kiss, but this time involving menstrual blood and other body fluids like sweat, urine, etc. Really disgusting sex practices, but I’m glad I was able to hold my vomitus till the end. Tell me how you feel too.
