When one thinks of the heart, normally a red pulsating glut of muscles come to mind. Though that conception is of the physical heart, today we’ll look at the metaphysical heart. The metaphysical heart is just as important as our own real physical heart that’s beating within each and every one of us.
I’ll start with a simple concept of the metaphysical heart: it’s composed of our psyche as well as our bonds. The substance that the metaphysical heart pumps are just as necessary as the blood that courses through our veins. That substance is called love.
Indeed, love is the substance that courses through our metaphysical hearts.Just like the physical heart, it is connected to extraneous subjects as well as itself. The tunnels that love travels is built up by our own efforts.
However, the origin of love is within one’s own subconscious and they are made aware of it through their consciousness. The metaphysical heart is composed of two main components – our psyche and our relationships to humanity, individuals, and other subjects. But, before we continue, let’s review the basics of love and how one can cultivate it within oneself.
Also, from here on, I’ll refer to the metaphysical heart as just, the heart.

The Cycle within our Hearts

The Way Love Cycles

Love is the most basic necessity for a heart. Without love, our heart will be withered, malfunctioning, and unable to produce love for others. The most important thing we can do, not only for ourselves but for our precious loved ones, is to strengthen our heart through focused and disciplined self-love. That means we must take responsibility for the vitality of our own heart.
This is also true of the physical heart, we are responsible for its health and well-being. Love is the expression of care, respect, and responsibility we produce for others as well as ourselves.

Thus, love must be created from within ourselves and directed to ourselves so that we can grow our own ‘garden of love’, such that the fruits can be plucked and shared with those we wish to bond with. Then, the next logical step is to identify the necessary thoughts and attitudes that produce self-love. Self-love seeks self-acceptance, self-forgiveness, self-improvement, self-acknowledgement, self-compassion, self-respect, self-care, and personal happiness. In fact, one can improve their heart by improving most aspects of their own psyche towards a positive track.

Self-Love Must Be Intentional

Self-love is the process and practice of introspective personal growth. Self-love means to allocate time, energy, discipline, concentration, and effort to build one’s own psyche such that one has a strong sense of self-worth, self-respect, self-acceptance, self-forgiveness, and self-reliance. Essentially, each of these aspects, and yet more, are part of one’s psyche. Self-love describes all the aspects of the psyche that relate to oneself – this also includes courage, resilience, humility, and compassion. It is absolutely, without question, our own responsibility to cultivate these different aspects of our psyche in order to fill our own hearts with love. There are myriad aspects to the human psyche and the ones I’ve mentioned here may just be a tip of the iceberg.

Self-Hatred Withers Our Hearts

The benefits of self-love are sometimes hidden from us, it is especially hidden to those that only practice negative self-harm through negative self-dialogue. Negative self-dialogue, however, only waste our time, depletes our energy and undermines our efforts.
When one insults him or herself, they damage their own heart, which generates a deep void, one that steeps them into a depression that they can rarely find their way out of. Hurling insults at one’s own heart, ignoring the heart, and refusing to acknowledge and cultivate the heart are actions that only seek self-destruction. Negative self-talk and negative beliefs affect one’s attitude, health, as well as one’s behaviors for the worse. Negative thoughts are truly irresponsible and unproductive.

Thus, self-love is the path to true happiness and true bonding. By loving oneself, one is able to produce enough love, not only for themselves but also for their loved ones and anyone else they come into contact with. The metaphysical heart is our psyche, as well as our bonds. That being the case, the next most logical topic to discuss is “bonding”. Bonding is a big topic and there are some things on self-love that I may not have mentioned.

 Bonding is an Expression of Love

The basic tools for bonding include the same tools needed for self-love. Which includes –

  • Care, 
  • Respect, 
  • Knowledge, and 
  • Responsibility. 

These are the most important aspects of generating love for others. You must learn about the person or subject you are bonding with in order to understand how to care for them. You must respect them in order to gain their respect in turn.
You must be responsible for your behavior in order to be seen as reliable. Essentially, self-love is entirely necessary in order to begin loving others. The practice of self-love will naturally give one more energy, a better attitude, and produce loving behaviors. Thus, when we love ourselves in a way that is humble and respectful, we can express that respect and care to our loved ones.

Strengthening a bond means to develop trust and learning to be vulnerable with each other. Improving a bond’s elasticity means to have compassion, understanding, and respect for each other. Improving the depth of a bond means to have shared experiences and to learn about each other. Improving a bond’s compatibility means to learn how to love each other’s interests. This is true for all bonds, and there is still more I could write on about how to maintain bonds, how to cultivate them, how to acquire them, and so on.

We Produce Love to Express Love

Finally, it is our own responsibility to acknowledge these aspects of ourselves and to cultivate them, to find our way into a brighter future, where we are the masters of ourselves. This is the practice of self-mastery – attaining thought patterns and beliefs that benefit us, as much as they benefit those external to ourselves. Where you learn to master your own psyche through contemplation and methodical acts of improving your own beliefs.
The best beliefs are those that are flexible and allow for growth and improvement. Thus, one must work to change their negative rigid beliefs, so that they can improve their own thinking, their own heart, and build strong unyielding bonds with those around them.
