Jobs in the United States for immigrants

We have several types of jobs in the USA for immigrants and they vary according to the availability of the time of year, as well as the demand of the moment. Anyway, we always work with some types of jobs for immigrants in the United States. Check out some possibilities.

1. Delivery Driver Service

This is a beginner’s job. The role includes tasks such as receiving payments whenever required and keeping records of all deliveries. Delivery Driving Service is a great option for immigrants who want to start working legally in the US. The delivery driver will be responsible for delivering multiple goods to different selected addresses.

A minimum requirement for this role is a high school qualification and a valid driver’s license. Among the other duties, we can highlight:

  • Follow routes and schedules;
  • Help keep company vehicles clean and tidy and follow all company safety policies;
  • Follow delivery directions and schedules;
  • Follow Department of Transportation regulations and safety standards;
  • Deliver a wide variety of boxes and small packages to different addresses and via different routes;
  • communicate with customers and colleagues in a professional and friendly manner;
  • Loading, unloading, preparation, inspection, and management of the delivery vehicle.

2. Au Pair

This is a work program in the US for immigrants that is very popular with exchange students. But it has some very specific requirements, the main one being that it can only be mediated by a company certified by the US government.

In other words: you cannot apply for work in the United States as an Au Pair even if you deal directly with a family there. If that happens, not only you, but the family itself will be breaking the law. When done following the rules, however, it is a great option for work in the USA.

Here are some of its advantages:

  • Defined workload: you can be available for a maximum of 45 hours a week or ten hours a day;
  • Flexibility: You negotiate with the host family when you will be at their disposal and when you can take advantage of your time off. Thus, when negotiating in advance, it is good for both parties and everything usually works out in the best way;
  • You are guaranteed one and a half days off per week, plus at least one weekend per month;
  • The Au Pair has a minimum period of one year, and during this period you will be entitled to two months of paid vacation;
  • If the host family decides to go on vacation, you can travel together, as paid or unpaid vacations – this must be established in the contract;
  • In addition to the stay with the host family, working in the USA as an Au Pair guarantees a minimum allowance of around 200 dollars per week;
  • To top it off, the program provides that the host family guarantees the Au Pair’s training in secondary school, paying up to 500 dollars for the course. Thus, it is possible to study English or even extra subjects, such as history or politics.

3. Warehouse/Office Assistant

The United States has been facing a labor shortage for a long time, and the pandemic has increased this considerably. Add to that the fact that the country had its borders closed for more than a year, which made certain vacancies that were normally occupied by foreigners remain open.

Thus, assistant jobs in the United States are great opportunities for Immigrants. We mainly offer Warehouse Assistant and Office Assistant vacancies.

What does a Warehouse Assistant do?

  • Helps to manage the flow of products and stock, receiving, checking, registering, and organizing what is received and sent;
  • Sends and receives goods;
  • Carry out inventories of stock and products, ensuring they are stored safely and properly;
  • Dispatch and load goods outside the warehouse for delivery.

What does an Office Assistant do?

  • Organizes the office and assists associates in optimizing processes;
  • Classifies and distributes communications in a timely manner;
  • Uses back-office computer systems (such as ERP software);
  • Schedule and plan meetings and appointments;
  • Monitor supplies;
  • Coordinates with other departments to ensure compliance with established policies;
  • Maintains trusting relationships with suppliers, customers, and colleagues;
  • Perform receptionist duties when needed.

4. Housekeeper

Undoubtedly, the Housekeeper is one of the best job opportunities in the United States for immigrants, as it is a more basic entry-level position that does not require many prerequisites. Domestic servants must be able to work with little supervision and maintain a high level of performance.

In addition, prioritization and time management skills are also important. They usually find employment in hotels, but they can also work in residential facilities or individual homes.
